When hiking during your summer holiday in the Hochkönig region, every step leads you into nature. Clean mountain air, towering rocks, idyllic alpine pastures, fresh meadows and fabulous views of the mountains - this is balm for the soul.
The trail network is well signposted and has been awarded the Austrian Hiking Quality Seal.
The hiking highlight is a 74 km long long-distance hiking trail through the region - the Königsweg (King's Path).
Guided hikes are offered free of charge in all towns in the region.

Hiking quality seal

The Königsweg in the Hochkönig region is one of the excellent hiking trails. However, the centre of a good hiking region is the hiking village as the starting point for the hiking experience. Excellent hiking villages are Maria Alm, Dienten and Mühlbach. As you can see, the entire Hochkönig region is an excellent hiking region!

The nature around the Hochkönig is full of herbal treasures. During the herb hike you will learn everything you need to know about these plants. You can hike with experienced herb teachers or go on the herb trail on your own.
On the 13 herbal alms you will find dishes, teas, ointments or spirits made from herbs on the menu. At herbal workshops, the knowledge is put into practice.
Recently, the Hochkönig region has also started offering herbal hikes for children, which are all about amazement, learning and collecting.

Right behind the wood a wooden roof appears - an alpine hut. At the 71 alpine pastures and huts in Maria Alm, Dienten and Mühlbach the hiking breaks taste really good. Fresh mountain air and exercise make you hungry. At the hut you will be welcomed with a hearty "Grias Di". From the kitchen Gröstl and Kaiserschmarrn smell up to the terrace. The view is magnificent. Warm rays of sunshine and regional delicacies create a good atmosphere. You can endure it here.
Fans of meatless cuisine will also get their money's worth. On numerous alpine pastures and huts you will be spoiled with delicacies - completely vegan and vegetarian.
Hike from hut to hut, it will do you good!

The Hochkönig hiking bus in Maria Alm, Dienten and Mühlbach will take you to the starting point of your hike or day trip free of charge with the Hochkönig Card and in a relaxed manner. Let your car rest and use the numerous connections. Change trains!
For all bikers there is a return service with the Bike Ruftaxi on request (subject to availability).
The bike transport with the Hochkönig Card is free on MTB holidays.

Long distance hike Königsweg: Starts at the village jet Natrun directly in front of the hotel door and leads the long distance hikers 74 kilometers along the Hochkönig massif, through the Steinerne Meer, the Dientner Grasberge as well as through Maria Alm, Dienten and Mühlbach. Direction Hinterthal to Dienten.
Forest adventure trail at Natrun: The fairytale adventure trail with twelve stations begins directly at the top station of the Dorfjet. The family excursion ends with an animal enclosure and an archery course.
Braggstein: A relatively secluded hike from Rohrmoos over the Lechneralm to the Braggstein, with its panoramic views. The three-and-a-half-hour hike is popular because of its unique views and leads along forest roads and narrow paths.
